Aging stack, outdated UX
After more than a decade and millions of invoices sent, the platform had outgrown its original interface. The design felt dated, navigation had become fragmented, and performance issues were slowing development.
BizXpert is a cloud-based invoicing and inventory management platform built for freelancers and small business owners. With over 200,000 downloads and more than 3 million invoices sent, it helps businesses streamline billing, manage expenses, and track inventory without the complexity of traditional accounting software.
The mission is simple: make invoicing and business management effortless. By 2024, that mission required a complete platform modernization, not just a fresh coat of paint, but a refactoring of the underlying product.
After more than a decade and millions of invoices sent, the platform had outgrown its original interface. The design felt dated, navigation had become fragmented, and performance issues were slowing development.
The CEO had past experiences with offshore firms that left him cautious. The question wasn't whether to refactor, it was whether an external team could deliver quality without constant micromanagement.
Users expected to create and send invoices on the move. The existing mobile experience was cramped and awkward, forcing small-business owners back to a desktop for basic tasks.
BizXpert started with a pilot project: a small WOLKK team focused on refactoring the core platform. We recruited experienced engineers and added a UI/UX designer to modernize the interface as a single unit of work, not an afterthought.
Within 4 weeks, every developer was onboarded and fully integrated into BizXpert's SCRUM processes. By the second month, their code quality matched BizXpert's Europe-based team. Daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and shared repositories made the remote team feel like an in-house extension.
"Working with Wolkk was a game-changer. For the first time, outsourcing felt like an extension of our own team."

The invoicing workspace was redesigned to look modern and uncluttered. The focus shifted to the information that gets users paid, not extra chrome.
Finding clients, past invoices, and creation flows became more direct. Fewer menus, clearer labels, and a layout that matches how small business owners actually work.
Add the client, add the items, review, send. The invoice flow was compressed so users spend less time clicking and more time running their business.
Sending an invoice from a phone or tablet now feels natural, not like a painful emergency workaround. The entire interface was rebuilt for touch and small screens.
Users can now pay the way they prefer, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Venmo, reducing friction at the point of conversion.
The new version of BizXpert launched successfully, delivering a modern, scalable platform that matched the expectations of today's small-business users. The work covered the full product surface: design, flow, performance, and mobile behavior.
BizXpert was impressed enough that they decided to take over the WOLKK development team permanently, making them an integral part of the company's future roadmap. Today, BizXpert continues to grow as a leading invoicing solution for small businesses worldwide, powered by a technology foundation built for the next decade.

BizXpert needed more than a one-off refactor. They needed a team that could learn their product, match their standards, and deliver without being micromanaged. WOLKK provided a fully integrated team, engineers, designers, and project leadership, that became part of their workflow within weeks.
The result wasn't just a modern app. It was a trusted engineering partner that BizXpert chose to keep.
